Fenerbahçe SK 2005-2011 Design
Sporting iD have a proud heritage in designing and producing some of the most iconic football names and number combinations. We have worked with some of the biggest names in football for many years and have been part of some of the most memorable stories of footballing history.
As part of the popular Throw Back Thursday (#tbt) Twitter trend we will uncover some Sporting iD designs of the past, taking a closer look at some of these fantastic typefaces and the stories that established them in the annals of footballing history.
The second iconic style is Sporting iD's longest surviving club style and is a style that has imbued itself into the culture of one of the most successful and best supported clubs in Turkey, Fenerbahçe.
Having adorned the Yellow and Blue jerseys of the Sarı Kanaryalar for 6 seasons between 2005 and 2011 this fantastic name and number style was present for part of Fener's most exciting period in their footballing history.
During the 2007-08 season, under the management of Brazilian legend Zico, Fenerbahçe qualified from the UEFA Champions League group stages, for the first time, and went onto their first and only Quarter Finals in this tournament. This acheivement saw Zico go down in local fokelore as the most successful Fenerbahçe manager in UEFA Champions League competition.
This success and ongoing success in the Turkish Leagues gained Zico the nickname of Kria Arthur (King Arthur) from the "Number 12", the Fenerbahçe fans.
This fantastic period in Fenerbahçe's history also saw the arrival of some of the best players of the time including Nicholas Anelka, Mateja Kezman and Roberto Carlos.
Whilst Sporting iD no longer manufacture the Fenerbahçe name and number style we do produce some of the most recognisable styles in use today.
We hope you come back soon for more insights into some of the great styles Sporting iD have produced.
